Abstract:

We present precision measurements of diffusion for
relatively long drift lengths of 50 cm in gas mixtures of
Ar-CF4:3%, Ar-CH4:10% (P10) and Ar-Isobutane:5%. The
large-area, 50 cm diameter, Micromegas TPC, operating with
low gas gains of order 1000-3000 and low electronic noise of
less than 1000 electrons, is instrumented with 1024 channels
of highly-integrated STAR front-end electronics. Single
point resolution measurements made from reconstructed cosmic
ray tracks in magnetic fields varying up to 2 Tesla will be
compared to both the expected precision and requirements for
a future Linear Collider TPC.
